My experiences in exile.
In exile, I attended the Tibetan village school in Suja where I learnt
my broken English for three years. At this time I also learnt Hindi in
my spare time. I also attended an agricultural college where I studied
environmental science for a further year. Later I came to Dharamsala
where I set up a small business and established my family in exile.
I attended various courses during this time, not least a 'Democratic
progress and conflict management' course under the Administrative
partnership project between CTA, the department of Home Affairs and
Danish Centre for Conflict Resolution. As a result I have been working
as a social worker at the heart of various Tibetan settlements
throughout India.
I have now turned my attention to helping the Tibetans in exile. I run a school with some 160 students learning English and
Tibetan. I was a committee member of the Dhomay Association for many years and I had to resign my post in order to be
able to concentrate on my school.
In essence, I spend most of my time at the school and helping people in
my capacity as a social worker.
